I am so excited to be a part of UTC this year!
Currently, I am teaching in a 5th grade classroom at Grove Elementary in Piedmont, SC. I and working on a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Gifted and Talented Endorsement from Furman University.
In my classroom, I emphasize project-based learning, technological fluency and application, and deep-level conceptual engagement. I have a strong interest in pedagogical methods that encourage critical thought, introspection, and a genuine love of exploration.
As a graduate student, I have played a significant role in several empirical research initiatives alongside Furman faculty, including work on critical literacy and on self-efficacy in early career teachers. I have also pursued a variety of complementary professional experiences with education-focused non-profits, including Public Education Partners in Greenville and the Upstate History Museum.
I have a genuine love of learning, and I enjoy working with students who exhibit a similar passion for learning and desire to analyze, produce, and communicate knowledge.
I’m particularly interested in critical analyses of school privatization, race, gender, and poverty in the classroom, power relations within education, and labor issues in education.
